On Saturday, firefighters arrived at a house near Southwest 89th Street and South Santa Fe Avenue to put out the blaze, but not before it spread from the backyard into the house itself.

Frilling burgers in the backyard turned into a house fire with one quick boom.

“The homeowner said she had lit the grill. Ten minutes later, to cook some burgers, went inside, getting that taken care of. Heard a loud boom and smoke alarms were going off,” said Battalion Chief Russell Huffman, OKCFD.

As it spread, the fire department said their best option was to take out part of the roof.

They said there was some damage.
