Iowa Spanish teacher may have been murdered because of bad grades
Newly filed court documents show investigators believe bad grades may have been the motive for the murder of Fairfield Spanish teacher Nohema Graber.This all comes ahead of a hearing Wednesday.The lawyers for Willard Miller said investigators lacked probable cause when police searched Willard Miller’s home and cell phone. In its response, the state released its most detailed account of the investigation yet.Graber was last seen alive one year ago — on Nov. 2, 2021.Prosecutors said, that afternoon, Miller had a meeting with Graber to discuss his poor Spanish grade.That evening, a witness saw two males driving Graber’s van near the park where she was found dead.During an interview with investigators, Miller detailed his frustrations with Graber but told police he didn’t kill her.He told law enforcement he was forced by the so-called “real killers” to hide Graber’s body and help drive her van.Miller and Jeremy Goodale are each charged with killing Graber.Miller’s defense is trying to get some of those statements thrown out, saying Miller never waived his right to an attorney.It’s also challenging the state’s use of the Snapchat messages provided by that witness.The hearing is scheduled for tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
