A free-climber was filmed scaling the Shard and pictured standing barefoot atop it has been charged with causing a public nuisance.
Adam Lockwood, 21, was charged with causing a public nuisance following his climb of the UK’s tallest building – which stands at 1,016ft – yesterday morning.
Spectacular footage has now emerged from inside the skyscraper by a couple reportedly woken up in the hotel room they were staying in on the 40th floor to celebrate a birthday.
Paul Curphey, 52, and his partner Treasaidh were lying in bed when they saw someone ‘waving at the window’.
‘He was smiling, waving, and having the time of his life. My partner thought I had pulled all the stops out and managed to get a guy to bring a box of Milk Tray for her birthday,’ Mr Curphey, a retail businessman from the Isle of Man, said.
Incredible drone images have also now emerged, showing the sheer scale of the feat, with epic views across the capital as Lockwood embarks on his mission to the top.

Lockwood was set to appear at Croydon Magistrate’s Court today after being charged with intentionally and recklessly causing a public nuisance.
Two other men who were arrested with Lockwood on suspicion of causing a public nuisance were subsequently released.
A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘A man has been charged in connection with an incident where a climber was on the Shard on Sunday, 4 September.
‘Adam Lockwood, 21 (07.06.01), of no fixed address, was charged on Sunday, 4 September with intentionally/recklessly causing a public nuisance.’
‘He will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 5 September. Two other men who were arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance were subsequently de-arrested.’

The area had been cordoned off to rail passengers due to The Shard’s proximity to London Bridge Station, after the climb was discovered at around 5am yesterday morning.
Lockwood shared his latest quest, posing topless with a headcam on without any shoes on, high above London’s skyline.
A friend said: ‘This isn’t coming from a place of bad attitude, Adam is very passionate about trying to be a positive influence, and raise awareness of mental health, a cause he feels very passionate about.
‘Adam is a person who genuinely wants to make the world a better place, and he has a heart of gold.’
