The parents of a three-month-old baby girl who was mauled to death had ‘raced huskies and kept them in their home’.

Karen Alcock, 41 and Vince King, 54 are said to be husky enthusiasts, owning at least five of the dogs and using them for racing.

Images on the couple’s social media profiles appear to show them while racing the dogs, pulled by up to eight at a time.

The parents reportedly took their three month-old Kyra on a husky training trip before her death in the car park of Ostler’s Plantation, close to Kirkby Moor Nature Reserve, Lincolnshire, at around 11.13am on March 6.

The incident was reported to police by East Midlands Ambulance Service, and the parents arrested at the location.

Lincolnshire Police said Karen Alcock, 41, and Vince King, 54, were arrested for an allegation of having an out-of-control dog which caused injury resulting in death.

The dog has been kept in isolation at secure kennels since the incident, and officers are seeking to have it put down.

Neighbours of the couple have said their home is very noisy with constant dog barking.

One local who lives nearby told The Sun: ‘I just don’t think it is right for one family to have so many dogs.’

Another added: ‘We can hear them barking and we are half a mile away.

‘Keeping that many dogs is a bit obsessive for me. I would be very happy for the dogs to be got rid of.’

Detective Constable Craig Davey, investigating officer, said: ‘This has been a profoundly sad investigation for everyone involved in understanding the circumstances around baby Kyra’s death.

‘We have kept an open mind throughout this investigation, which has been lengthy and thorough and involved specialist forensic experts and officers from our protecting vulnerable people unit.’

The parents, of Castledyke Bank, New York, Lincoln, are due before Boston Magistrates’ Court on November 9.
