  • Mahek Bukhari, 23, her mum Ansreen Bukhari, 45, and their friend Natasha Akhtar, 22, have pleaded not guilty to murdering the young men in horror crash
  • Five other co-accused were in the dock at Leicester Crown Court this morning
  • Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin and Saquib Hussain died in crash last February
  • The two 21-year-olds died instantly when their Skoda Fabia burst into flames 

A TikTok star has gone on trial for the murder of two cousins alongside her mother and friend.

Mahek Bukhari, 23, her mum Ansreen Bukhari, 45, and their friend Natasha Akhtar, 22, have pleaded not guilty to murdering the young men in a horror car crash eight months ago.

Five other co-accused, all men, were alongside the three women in the dock at Leicester Crown Court this morning.

One of Britain’s top High Court judges The Honourable Mr Justice Saini has been brought in to preside over the case.

The trial is expected to last at least seven weeks.

Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin and Saquib Hussain, both 21, from Banbury, Oxfordshire, died instantly in the smash in the early hours of February 11 on the A46 near Six Hills in Leicestershire.

The pair were travelling in a Skoda Fabia which burst into flames after allegedly being ‘run off the road’ by the defendants.

Social media influencer Bukhari and her mum, are both from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Akhtar is from Birmingham, West Midlands.

Fellow defendants, who have also pleaded not guilty are: Raees Jamal, 22, of Loughborough, Leicestershire, Rekan Karwan, 28, and Mohammed Patel, 20, both of Leicester.

Two other Leicester men Sanaf Gulammustafa , 22 and Ameer Jamal, 27, were later arrested and jointly charged.

The victims died instantly after their car was allegedly chased by the defendants and hit a central reservation barrier.

Before her arrest, Mahek Bukhari had boasted of more than 126,000 followers on TikTok and a further 43,000 on Instagram

During the high speed chase one of the men called 999 to alert police they were being pursued.

Before her arrest, Mahek Bukhari had boasted of more than 126,000 followers on TikTok and a further 43,000 on Instagram.

She had regularly shared snippets of her life, including her outfits, make-up and handbags, and has also appeared in videos alongside her mum.
